Sammy's perfect finishing touch
Sammy and her husband recently bought their first home in Christchurch. As a new build, Sammy was focused on styling the home just how she wanted and getting the right curtains and blinds to suit the space was the perfect finishing touch to bring it all together. Watch how Sammy worked with Russells to create a home she'll love for years to come.
"The process was really seamless, we've already recommended Russells to a lot of our friends and family." - Sammy, Christchurch
How to choose the perfect curtains
With a lovely sunny home, the last thing Sammy wanted to do was have to block out all the light. Double tracks were ideal for the especially sunny windows, combining a sheer with a blockout to let her enjoy the diffused sunlight through the day and add privacy and comfort at night. Use textured neutrals for a soft touch
Bold colours and stand-out patterns were never going to be Sammy's style, but choosing neutral tones that also had some texture woven was the perfect way to bring some visual interest in. They help a neutral style feel warm and welcome, but never overwhelming. Read more about choosing fabrics for a minimalist look on our blog.
Blinds and curtains for different windows
With an open floor plan, Sammy wanted to make sure that there was a cohesive look to her window furnishings, but it wasn't practical to use curtains on all the windows. In the kitchen or behind the couch are ideal placements for roller blinds as they stay out of the way and won't get caught up in anything if there's a breeze. And if the colours are chosen to match, it still creates a lovely coherent look.
