Frequently asked questions
Natural, organic materials are very in style right now and that extends to the fabrics and materials people choose for their blinds. Linen roman blinds or faux wood venetians are definitely popular for their functionality and organic look as they pair well with the soft neutrals that are in style right now.
Roller blinds are usually the most cost-effective blind option. This is due to the simplified process of making them compared to other types of blinds and the cost-effectiveness of the materials used. Roller blinds are also a great choice for both windows and doors. Roman blinds can also be relatively cost-effective depending on the fabric you choose.
It’s a well-researched fact that a dark environment is important for quality sleep, so the blinds that are most suitable for the bedroom need to block light effectively. Roller blinds or snugly fitting roman blinds are the best at blocking light, so they are the most suitable choices for blinds in the bedroom.
When it comes to blinds for the living room, almost any type is suitable! Roller blinds are a great budget-friendly option that provides plenty of privacy and block light to keep the glare off the TV. Honeycombs are ideal if you’re looking to add a high level of insulation to your windows, while venetians or vertical blinds are perfect for large windows or sliding doors.
Roller blinds or venetians are usually the most suitable blinds for kitchens. This is due to their ability to be simply wiped off and the fact that they don’t absorb water or cooking smells.
Yes, roman blinds can be custom-made, in fact, we recommend they are! To get the best functionality out of roman blinds, they need to fit just right and that can be very difficult. Windows aren’t a standard set of sizes so pre-made roman blinds are unlikely to fit as well as custom-made ones.
Yes, vertical blinds can absolutely be custom-made! Custom-made vertical blinds will always get you the perfect fit. This is especially important for blinds for larger windows or sliding doors as custom-made vertical blinds can be properly linked to function more effectively than readymades.
While there are pros and cons to both custom-made blinds and readymade blinds, the primary differences between them come down to cost and fit. Readymade blinds are a much cheaper option; however, you will likely sacrifice a good fit as there are no standard sizes for windows. Readymades are cut to fit some common sizes, but they may not work for many of the windows in your home. Custom blinds are cut to fit the exact measurements of each of your windows, guaranteeing a perfect fit. While custom blinds cost a bit more than readymades, they are far more likely to fit and function well.
How long custom blinds last will depend on what kind of material they are made of and how much wear and tear they receive over the years. Most custom blinds will last 10 to 20 years when cared for properly with standard use. However, don't forget to consider the impact of pets or children as they can increase the usual wear and tear on blinds.
Custom blinds don’t have to cost a lot! Simple roller blinds will be the most cost-effective, starting from approximately $2580 for an average 3-bedroom home. Of course, added linings and more complex blinds like honeycombs, venetians or other customisations will cost a bit more. The size of your windows also has a direct impact on the cost of blinds.
Roller blinds are definitely the easiest blinds to keep clean. Being a solid piece of wipeable material, they take very little effort to keep clean. Venetians with wide slats are also very easy to clean and roman blinds simply require regular dusting.
