Features & benefits
Aluminium venetians
Aluminium venetian blinds create a sleek and contemporary aesthetic. Aluminium is non-toxic and long-lasting, lightweight, flexible, and corrosion resistant, making them an excellent material for window furnishings.
Wooden venetians
Bring natural warmth and richness to your space with our range of timber venetian blinds, available in a range of stained and painted finishes to match your decor. Choose a wider slat (50–60mm) to create a shutter-like aesthetic.
Faux-wood venetians
Looks and feels like real timber but made from 100% polyresin to provide a more rigid and durable blind, increasing their resistance to warping chipping and cracking. Ideal for high humidity areas, such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundries.
Inside or outside mount
Fitting your blinds inside the window frame offers the cleanest look, but your window recess needs to be deep enough. Fitting the blind outside and just above the frame is practical and flexible, suiting just about any window.

Frequently asked questions
Venetian blinds refer specifically to horizontal blinds with slats that can be tilted to control light and privacy. ‘Blinds’ is a broader term that encompasses various window coverings, including Venetian blinds.
The best type of Venetian blinds often depends on personal preference and the specific needs of the room. The most popular venetian blind is the PVC wood look followed by the wood venetian.
Venetian blinds can block out a significant amount of light when fully closed, but some light may still filter through the slats. For complete darkness, you may want to consider adding blackout curtains or choosing a blockout blind.
Curtains are not necessary with Venetian blinds, as Venetians can provide both privacy and light control on their own. However, adding curtains can enhance the aesthetic appeal and insulation of the room.
White and neutral tones tend to be the most popular choices for Venetian blinds, as they complement a wide range of interior styles and colour schemes.
It might seem obvious that venetian blinds were originally from Venice, but they were likely originally developed in Ancient Egypt. However, Venetian traders brought them to Europe and popularised them in the western world.
There’s not much of a downside to venetian blinds – it’s why they are so popular! Of course, there are still some things to consider, like if you have very narrow slats, they may be a bit more difficult to clean, or they might make look too busy or distracting in every room. But overall, the benefits definitely outweigh the downsides of venetian blinds.
Venetian blinds are not designed to be very energy efficient and the main way they keep heat out is by simply blocking the direct sunlight.
It depends on what you’re trying to do! If you tilt the slats up, it will help keep your room warmer, keep light out and maintain privacy. If you tilt them down, you’ll let the cool air in and allow some sunlight through while maintaining privacy.
Venetian blinds should last approximately 12-18 years when cared for and maintained. Of course, this does depend on individual circumstances and the possibility of damage from pets, children, or rigorous use can lower their lifespan.
The most common repair required for venetian blinds is to simply replace a broken slat. Other repairs like fixing a tilt mechanism, replacing broken strings or replacing valance clips are all relatively simple to do.
It’s best practice to dust your venetian blinds about once a month to keep them looking tidy. Just remember to also clean up any spills or marks as soon as they happen to prevent damage.
According to security experts, yes! Not only do they make it difficult to see inside your home, but venetian blinds are also more difficult to push aside or get past than some other blinds. This can cause more noise and commotion and is an added inconvenience that can deter a burglar from even trying.
If your venetian blinds are tilted open slightly, yes, someone might be able to see a little bit through them, but the materials themselves will fully block any view inside when closed.
Generally, venetian blinds are hung between 25 and 50 mm away from the glass. The goal is to get them as close as possible to the glass without impeding their operation so venetian blinds with wider slats will need to be slightly further away than those with narrow slats.
