What double roller blinds are best for.
Use the light-filtering blind during the day for diffused light, and roll down the blockout at night for complete darkness and privacy.
A sunscreen blind reduces glare during the day without cutting out the view. The blockout blind gives full privacy in the evening when you need it.
A sunscreen fabric in a double roller can block up to 95% of UV rays, protecting furniture and flooring from fading without darkening the room during the day.
Where space is limited, a double roller delivers the same range of light control as a curtain-and-blind pairing but within a much smaller footprint.

Are double roller blinds right for your windows?
Double roller blinds require enough depth in the window recess, or sufficient wall space above the frame, to accommodate two rolls side by side. Your local consultant will assess your windows and give you an honest recommendation.

Frequently asked questions
What are double roller blinds?
Double roller blinds, sometimes called dual roller blinds, combine two roller blinds on a single bracket. One blind is typically a light-filtering or sunscreen fabric for daytime use, and the other is a blockout fabric for privacy and darkness at night. Both operate independently.
Are double roller blinds worth it?
For rooms where you want both filtered light during the day and full darkness at night, yes. A double roller replaces the need for a separate blind-and-curtain combination and takes up less visual and physical space. Your local consultant can help you decide whether a double roller or an alternative combination is the better fit for each room.
What are the disadvantages of double roller blinds?
Double rollers require sufficient recess depth or clearance above the frame to fit two rolls side by side. They are also a larger investment than a single roller. For windows without adequate space or rooms where only one function is needed, a single roller may be the better choice.
Can double roller blinds be blockout?
Yes. The blockout component of a double roller is a fully opaque fabric that blocks virtually all light through the material. As with any blockout blind, the fit is critical: gaps around the frame are the main source of light bleed, and your consultant will advise on the right mount and fitting method.
Do double roller blinds look good?
When the two fabrics are chosen to complement each other, double rollers can look very clean and intentional. Your consultant brings samples to your home and can show you how different fabric combinations will work together in your specific space and light conditions.
Can double roller blinds be motorised?
Yes. Both blinds in a double roller system can be motorised independently, which makes them particularly practical for bedrooms and rooms with large or hard-to-reach windows. Your consultant can explain the motorisation options available.
What is the difference between double roller blinds and a blockout blind?
A blockout blind is a single opaque roller used for light exclusion. A double roller blind pairs a blockout with a second blind, usually a light filter or sunscreen, so you can switch between filtered light and complete darkness without changing window coverings.
Are double roller blinds energy efficient?
A double roller with a blockout fabric can help reduce heat loss at night by adding a layer of insulation at the window. For rooms where thermal performance is a priority, your consultant may also recommend a honeycomb or thermal blind as part of the solution.
Can blinds be made child and pet safe?
Yes — there are a few easy ways. Any of our chain-controlled blinds can have a chain tensioner added for child and pet safety, at no extra cost. Prefer to do away with cords and chains completely? Motorising your blinds removes them altogether, and several of our ranges also come with a cordless option. Just tell your consultant it’s a priority and we’ll point you to the safest choice for your home.
